During the conclusion of the First Forum of Interregional Cooperation in Taraz City, business representatives from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan inked agreements and contracts worth a total of $65mn, the press service of the Kazakh government reports.
The signed commercial documents encompass a range of sectors, including the supply of poultry meat, medical and confectionery products, complex micro-fertilizers, ammophos, sodium cyanide, limestone, and slatestone. Additionally, the agreements involve trade and intermediary services, initiatives within the light industry, and the banking sector.
Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov emphasized the effectiveness of investment cooperation between the two countries, noting that Kazakh companies have invested nearly $1.3bn in the Kyrgyz economy since 2005. Furthermore, in 2022 alone, investments reached almost $200mn, marking a 2.5-fold increase compared to the previous period.
Smailov highlighted the success of approximately 3,500 joint ventures operating in Kazakhstan, with an additional 200 new companies joining their ranks in the past year. He expressed mutual interest in expanding joint projects between the two nations.
To solidify this cooperation, memorandums were signed at the end of the forum to establish twin-city ties between Shymkent and Osh cities, as well as Aktobe and Jalal-Abad regions.
