The mayor of Andijan, Shukhratbek Abdurakhmanov, recently held a meeting with a representative from Xinjiang Tian Jiao Hong Agricultural to discuss an investment project that aims to process pepper in the region and is estimated to generate annual exports worth $30mn.
To achieve this, the Chinese company has proposed direct contracts with local farmers to grow pepper on 2,000 hectares of land.
The Chinese side has offered a reasonable price of $1.1 per kilogram for the pepper. After thoroughly reviewing the Chinese project, the regional mayor initiated the first phase of bilateral cooperation.
Earlier, Poland-based Luba Sohn Holding revealed its intention to establish a foam panel manufacturing facility in Uzbekistan. The facility will span across 5 hectares and will house production workshops, a logistics center, laboratories, and finished product warehouses. The estimated cost of the project is between $7 to $10mn, and it is predicted to generate employment opportunities for approximately 300 to 400 people.
