Between January and August 2023, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan amounted to $517.0mn, indicating a year-on-year increase of 1.3%, according to the Uzbek Presidential Statistics Agency.
Uzbekistan imported goods worth $398.6mn from Turkmenistan and exported goods worth $118.4mn to the country.

In recent years, Uzbekistan has shifted to purchasing energy directly from Turkmenistan. Mutual trade between the neighbouring countries reached $926.3mn last year, which is five times higher than in 2017.
