On September 18, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan met with Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), at his New York residence.
The discussion primarily revolved around a comprehensive assessment of the global economic landscape. The leaders also delved into the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IMF, emphasizing the agreements reached during their bilateral meeting in Samarkand in June of the same year.
Kristalina Georgieva, the head of the IMF, offered high praise for the outcomes of Uzbekistan's program of irreversible reforms and expressed the IMF's willingness to closely collaborate in advancing effective reforms within the country.
Several key topics were addressed during the meeting, including the IMF's involvement in conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the stability of Uzbekistan's financial sector, providing advisory support in crafting proposals to enhance economic policies, and the implementation of programs aimed at bolstering the expertise of specialists in various government agencies.
