President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recently met with Susan D. Pointer, the Vice President of International Public Policy and Government Affairs at Amazon, to discuss the possibility of hosting the company's data centers on the territory of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting held in New York, the head of Amazon expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with Kazakhstan to cover the entire Central Asian region.
The President drew attention to Kazakhstan's achievements in e-government and highlighted the need for the best infrastructure solutions to improve the digital sphere in the country further.
Amazon and the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan earlier inked an agreement to acquire the cloud solution Outpost and launch a pilot project to integrate it with the QazTech platform. Representatives of the Kazakh authorities noted that this document will lay the foundation for the placement of data centers of global players in Kazakhstan and the realization of the country's potential as a regional IT hub.
