The director of the Uzbekistan Civil Aviation Agency engaged in talks with representatives from the German airline Lufthansa regarding the potential revival of air travel connections with Uzbekistan.
This meeting aimed to bolster transportation and logistical ties, enhance reciprocal tourism, and establish fresh travel routes linking Uzbekistan and Germany.
Among the topics discussed during this session was the prospect of reintroducing regular flights on the Frankfurt-Tashkent route operated by Lufthansa. Lufthansa had previously run scheduled passenger flights from Tashkent to Frankfurt between 1993 and 2001. Unfortunately, these flights ceased following the events of September 11, 2001, primarily due to a decrease in air travel demand. Although flights were reinstated in 2010, they were subsequently halted once again.
The discontinuation of these flights in 2010 marked a period when Lufthansa sought to reestablish services to Tashkent, only to later cancel them. Over recent years, there have been ongoing discussions concerning the possibility of restoring these flights, indicating the potential for renewed air travel connections between the two regions.
