Construction has commenced on a new coal mine situated in the upper region of the Topolang reservoir in Uzbekistan's Surkhandarya region. Currently, Uzbekistan boasts 44 sizable coal mines, including the Angren, Shargun, and Boisun mines.
The Topolang coal mine basin is positioned at an elevation of 1,450m above sea level. To date, approximately 35,000 tons of coal reserves have been extracted from the mine and readied for distribution to consumers.
The mining operations at the coal mine are being expedited through the utilization of over 15 pieces of machinery, with daily coal transport reaching 1,000 to 1,200 tons. The total estimated volume of coal reserves in the Topolang coal mine is approximately 11 million tons.
The report states that the first priority for the mined coal is to supply it to individuals within the community who require social assistance. An additional 20,000 tons of coal will be transported based on an address list of those in need.
In preparation for coal distribution, lists have been compiled for 11,441 citizens who qualify for social assistance in the "iron book" and "women's book" across Denov, Sariosia, and Uzun districts.
Simultaneously, efforts are underway in the Topolang coal mine basin to ensure safety in light of potential landslides, to define coal seam deposits during the extraction process, and to develop additional mines.
Earlier reports indicated that Europe had initiated searches for buyers in Asia for surplus coal. Furthermore, it was announced in June that Kazakhstan would incrementally increase coal exports to Uzbekistan by a factor of 25.
