Both the Swedish police and government have acknowledged a deterioration in the country's security situation due to the influence of terrorist organizations urging for attacks.
Authorities in the United Kingdom and the United States are advising their citizens who plan to visit Sweden about the heightened risk of terrorist activities.
Sweden's Minister of Justice, Gunnar Strömmer, has announced that the police are intensifying their border controls and conducting more thorough screenings of individuals entering Swedish territory.
"Sweden has shifted from being considered a lawful target for terrorist attacks, similar to other Western nations, to a higher priority. Throughout the summer, both security agencies and the government have communicated that our security situation is now more severe compared to six months ago"- Gunnar Strömmer said.
Despite condemning the actions of those involved in Quran desecration, Swedish officials emphasize the constitutional protection of freedom of assembly and expression for the country's residents.
However, the Swedish government is currently reviewing potential amendments to the legislation aimed at preventing similar actions by demonstrators.
