A former soldier from the Aktau garrison in Kazakhstan has been handed a severe sentence by the inter-district military court in Astana for the rape of his 11-year-old daughter, Tengrinews.kz reports.
The court found the defendant guilty based on the victim's and witnesses' testimonies, examination results, and other evidence presented during the trial.
The prosecutor had sought a life sentence for the accused, but the court's verdict ultimately convicted him under several criminal articles, including "rape of a minor" and "acts of sexual violence against a minor." Consequently, the former military man received a life sentence with detention in a high-security correctional facility. Additionally, the court ordered the use of chemical castration as a form of forced treatment against the perpetrator.
The decision has not yet become legally binding and may be subject to further legal proceedings. The case has sparked widespread public concern and debate over appropriate measures to address such heinous crimes against minors.
In a report earlier this year, we presented data on how long are sentences for pedophiles in Central Asian countries.
Regarding a three-year sentence in Uzbekistan, Komil Allamzhonov, deputy head of the Presidential Administration, wrote on his Telegram channel — "It's time to amend the legislation on the use of chemical castration against pedophiles in Uzbekistan."
