During a joint meeting of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the elected President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, officially took the oath of office.
The chairman of the Central Election Commission, Zayniddin Nizomkhojayev, delivered a speech and presented the presidential certificate to Mirziyoyev, marking the beginning of the solemn ceremony. The newly inaugurated president then addressed the audience.
Expressing his gratitude to his fellow citizens for their trust and support, Mirziyoyev stated, "I hold the national flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan, our symbol of sacred homeland and independence, our national anthem and coat of arms, the Presidential High Badge, and the flag handed over to me in high regard."
He accepted his election as the President of Uzbekistan as a significant recognition of the government's commitment to safeguarding human rights, freedoms, and the interests of the people.
In the presidential election held on July 9, Shavkat Mirziyoyev secured 87.05% of the vote, with Robakhon Mahmudova receiving 4.43%, Ulugbek Inoyatov receiving 4.02%, and Abdushukur Hamzayev receiving 3.74%.
Mirziyoyev was initially elected as the President of Uzbekistan on December 4, 2016, with 88.61% of the votes. He was re-elected in the presidential election held on October 24, 2021, winning 80.1% of the vote. The inauguration ceremony took place on November 6 at the Oliy Majlis Senate building.
Following the presentation of the presidential certificate and the CEC certificate by Chairman Nizomkhojayev, Mirziyoyev took the oath, signing the Constitution of Uzbekistan and the Holy Qur'an. He then delivered a speech before the gathered crowd.
