Saudi Arabia is looking to purchase fresh fruits, dried fruits, honey, and drinking water from Tajikistan. The Export Agency to the Government of Tajikistan recently met with the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Tajikistan to discuss this matter, media reports.
In particular, Saudi Arabia has expertise in the oil and gas industry, construction, finance, and investment, while Tajikistan has significant potential in agriculture, electricity, and textiles. Both countries express interest in establishing fruitful cooperation in these areas.
To increase bilateral trade, the Saudi Arabian diplomat expressed readiness to assist in developing activities between the business people of both countries.
The Tajik Customs Service reported that trade with Saudi Arabia for the first half of 2023 amounted to about $121,000, and for 2022, the trade between the two countries amounted to $276,000.
A business forum was held in Dushanbe at the end of last year to increase trade further. Representatives from over 200 companies and enterprises from Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia attended the event, including those from energy, construction, transport, logistics, agriculture, financial banking, telecommunications, insurance, and trade, as well as government ministries and agencies.
Visitors from Saudi Arabia visited industrial enterprises in Dushanbe to explore opportunities to invest in the economy of Tajikistan.
