The Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia convened its latest meeting in Astana, focusing on the crucial role of innovations and technologies in regional development. Led by Tanzila Narbaeva, the Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan, the delegation from Uzbekistan joined women leaders from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan to discuss key issues concerning women in the region, the press service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan reports.
On June 19, another session of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia took place in Astana. The theme of this session, "The role of women in the development of innovations and technologies," highlighted the growing recognition of women's contributions in driving technological advancements and fostering innovation. The regional platform, established in 2020 at the initiative of Uzbekistan with the support of the United Nations, aims to facilitate cooperation and consultations among women leaders in Central Asia.
Kazakhstan, currently chairing the dialogue, has identified digitalization as one of its top priorities for 2023. The meeting discussed the issues of uniting the efforts of active and business women, academic and scientific circles, the non-governmental and civil sectors of the countries of the region, expanding cooperation on demographic development, gender equality, implementing projects in the fields of tourism, culture, ecology, trade and digital technologies.
In her speech, Tanzila Narbaeva, the Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan, emphasized that today the dialogue holds an important place in Central Asia and has received proper support from the international community.
“During the period of activity of this unique platform, important documents have been adopted, and major events have been held that have had a significant impact on the implementation of effective measures at the regional level" she stated.
Within the framework of the meeting, innovative projects and startups created by women from the region were presented. Digitization projects in rural areas were discussed, as well as developments aimed at addressing relevant issues of family and society, women's entrepreneurship, professional education, and employment.
