A cyclone in the southern region of Brazil has resulted in the deaths of 11 individuals, with 20 people still missing, zakon.kz reports.
"Eighteen people are still missing in Caraa and two in Tres Forquilhas," said the government of Rio Grande do Sul. The Brazilian government has deployed helicopters to search for the missing individuals in areas heavily impacted by the storm's heavy rainfall.
One of the cities severely affected by the cyclone is Caraa, home to over 8,000 residents. A total of 2,330 people were left with damaged houses and 602 were evacuated from areas at risk due to the passage of the cyclone between Thursday and Friday. The governor of the city expressed deep concern over the situation in Caraa and emphasized the urgent need to identify the main affected areas and provide assistance to those in need.
Many affected residents have sought refuge in outdoor sports fields within their cities. Officials have issued warnings about the risk of landslides in various areas.
