Vivek Ramaswamy, an American businessman, and presidential candidate, stated that if elected, he would aim to initiate discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin within three days to address the conflict in Ukraine, Politico reports.
Ramaswamy asserted that if Kyiv refuses to agree to the proposed agreement, the war would continue without American assistance. As part of his plan, the United States would temporarily suspend economic and military aid to Ukraine to establish trust in Washington's intentions from Moscow's perspective.
According to the report, if the involved parties reach an agreement but Kyiv opts to persist with the war, the United States would halt its support. Furthermore, in the event that Russia fails to comply with the terms of the agreement, Ukraine would promptly be admitted to NATO, potentially leading to increased pressure on Russia through the implementation of new sanctions.
When discussing his plan's feasibility with European nations, Ramaswamy highlighted the significance of upholding strong commitments within NATO. Failure to do so could jeopardize US support for the alliance.
The businessman, who had previously announced his presidential candidacy, has consistently expressed the belief that Washington should persuade Kyiv to make significant concessions in favor of Russia as a means to end the conflict. He has also stated that the expansion of NATO was the sole reason behind the "special operation."
The next presidential election in the USA will be held on November 5, 2024. The last presidential election was held on November 3, 2020, in which the candidate nominated by the Democratic Party, Joe Biden, won.
The current list of candidates consists of 20 people. Three of them are Democrats and the remaining seventeen are Republicans, with Trump being the most popular candidate as of now.
