Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev told reporters that he has planned a business trip to Ashgabat to sign an agreement on imports of Turkmen electricity in 2024.
"I will have a trip to Turkmenistan to sign an agreement on electricity supply for 2024," the official said.
Turkmenistan will supply about 1.6bn kilowatt-hours (kWh) this year, remaining the largest supplier of electricity to the country, as it did a year earlier. Kazakhstan, for its part, will sell more than 0.5bn kWh, the same amount contracted with Russia.
Uzbekistan, the region's traditional electricity supplier, cut off shipments to Kyrgyzstan last year because of growing domestic demand caused by an industrial boom.
Turkmenistan also sells electricity to Afghanistan, Iran and Uzbekistan.
