The Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan has reported that several significant agreements were signed at the EBRD forum in Samarkand, including a joint project with TAQA to construct a combined cycle gas plant with a capacity of up to 1,600 MW worth $1.2bn.
Another agreement was signed with Masdar and the Ministry of Energy for the joint development of photo and wind power projects, with an estimated cost of $2.6bn.
The Uzbek government also secured a sovereign loan of up to $49mn from the EBRD to introduce electric buses in Samarkand.
The governmental department also signed an agreement with the International Finance Corporation for financial and advisory services on the Tashkent electricity distribution project, valued at $300mn.
The Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade, along with JSC «Uzsuvtaminot» and France's Suez, have agreed to enhance the water supply system in the Surkhandarya region. This development project is worth $500mn and is a significant investment in the region's infrastructure.
Lastly, the agreement was inked with ACWA Power to develop the "Green Hydrogen" project, costing $88mn.
