The new set of sanctions is set to target some 35 entities, which includes enterprises in China, Hong Kong, UAE, and former CIS countries such as Uzbekistan, and Armenia, Bloomberg reports.
The crackdown is proposed to target businesses that supply Russia with banned products and technology that supported the war in Ukraine.
“We recently see a growth of highly unusual trade flows through the European Union and certain third countries. These goods then end up in Russia,” von der Leyen said in a statement during her visit to Kyiv on May 9.
