Kyrgyzstan issued a license to operate the first casino in the country. The country’s financial regulator writes on its website.
“Grand Casino” Ltd., paid 84 million soms ($959,780) for the license.
According to the Ministry of Justice of Kyrgyzstan, the head and founder of the company Adilet Abdymanapov registered the firm in Bishkek in November 2022.
The consideration of a draft law legalizing gambling activities caused a lot of controversy in Kyrgyz society last year. Opponents of its adoption held protests in the capital and regions.
Disputes also arose in the parliament which was only able to pass the law on gambling activity on the fifth attempt. MPs from the faction of Adakhan Madumarov refused to vote and actually blocked the procedure.
President Sadyr Japarov signed the casino law on June 30, 2022.
