"Taliban" army Chief of Staff (COS) Fasihuddin Fitrat condemned the operation of drones in the airspace of Afghanistan and said that the army will have the opportunity to use anti-aircraft missiles, the correspondent of "Daryo" in Afghanistan reports.
Fitrat said his main focus is protecting Afghanistan's airspace from drones and other attacks. He noted that each country needs anti-aircraft missiles to protect its territory and airspace. A Taliban official said that Afghanistan is also seeking to acquire this type of weapon system.
"Afghanistan is doing everything it can to get it. We will do everything we can to protect our airspace and find a solution. We will work on it with all our might, and where we will get it from is a secret," said Fitrat.
However, he did not provide additional information about how the missiles will be purchased. The chief of staff of the "Taliban" army said that it is planning to increase its forces and that the largest budget in Afghanistan is being used for the army.
The COS of the "Taliban" army criticized the U.S. violation of the Afghan airspace.
For reference, with the establishment of the "Taliban" regime in Afghanistan, the U.S. carried out airstrikes in various regions of Afghanistan, one of which was the attack on Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in Kabul.
