Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the spring draft of the army. The document was published on the official internet portal of legal information.
"From April 1 to July 15, 2023, 147,000 citizens of the Russian Federation between the ages of 18 and 27 who are not in the reserve and should be called up for military service," the text of the decree reads.
In Russia, 120,000 people were called up for military service in the fall of 2022, and 134,500 in the spring of 2022.
On March 30, the Chairman of the Defense Committee of the State Duma, Andrey Kartapolov, said that Russians conscripted into the Russian army will not be sent to serve in Donetsk and Luhansk, as well as Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. He also said that there will be no conscription for spring military service in the new subjects of the federation.
