The revised Constitution aims to establish a strong parliament, a compact and responsible government, and an independent and fair judicial system in order to build a people-friendly state.
The laws and other normative legal acts in force in Uzbekistan before the entry into force of the Constitutional Law shall be applied to the extent that they do not contradict the Constitution of the country as amended by this Constitutional Law.
The norms of the Constitution of Uzbekistan as amended by the Constitutional Law shall be directly applicable from the moment of entry into force of the Constitutional Law, regardless of the adoption or existence of relevant laws and other regulatory legal documents.
Reportedly, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis approved the decision to hold a referendum on the draft law on the new version of the Constitution at the meeting held on March 14.
