Uzbekistan’s Consul General in Aktau Atabek Tursynbekov held talks with the Director-General of Kazakhstan’s Port of Quryq Serik Akhmetov, Dunyo reported on February 27. The meeting discussed the possibility of transporting Uzbekistan-manufactured products through the Kazakh port.
Serik Akhmetov said that work with international partners to improve the infrastructure of the port is underway. It is planned to implement a number of projects for the further development of the Port of Quryq, including the construction of a multifunctional sea terminal entitled ‘Sarya’ in the port. These tasks significantly increase the capacity of the port, he added.
Reportedly, expanding the port capacity will intensify trade and economic ties of Uzbek entrepreneurs along the Trans-Caspian international route.
The port is located on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea, south of the Aktau port and in a natural bay, which provides favorable weather conditions for its operation. The port is capable of receiving road and rail ferries all year round.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Uzbek exporters might soon increase freight shipments to EU markets via the Aktau seaport.
