U.S.-billionaire Elon Musk's Space X company has indicated on a map of Starlink satellite internet services that in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan "the date of service is currently unknown".
In May 2022, it was reported that high-speed satellite broadband Internet access to the five Central Asian countries is scheduled to be launched in 2023. Judging by the interactive map, these plans have only survived regarding Kyrgyzstan.
Starlink equipment is capable of providing Internet access in hard-to-reach places. The total number of users of Starlink satellite internet service reached 1 million in December 2022. According to the Space X website, the connection speed via Starlink ranges from 100 to 200 Mbps.
Notably, Turkmenistan, assisted by SpaceX, launched its first national satellite from Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA, in 2015, which was built by the French company Thales Alenia Space.
