Tashkent park in Ashgabat held a festival of national cuisine as well as a concert dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. The event was chaired by Uzbek Embassy to Turkmenistan and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture of Turkmenistan.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov congratulated the guests on a significant date, Dunyo reports.
‘The 30 years that have elapsed since the establishment of diplomatic relations are considered to be historically significant. This was an important stage in the development, strengthening, and expansion of fraternal relations of the Uzbek and Turkmen peoples, who have lived side by side for centuries, building their states and promoting common human values’, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister said. ‘The illustrious sons of the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples made a great contribution to the heritage of world civilization, science, literature, culture, art, and other spheres of society. Today, with this rich heritage, our countries continue this honorable path under the leadership of our heads of State. Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are recognized as examples of good neighborliness not only in Central Asia but also outside the region. Based on the political will of the leaders of the two countries, bilateral relations are developing at a high level’, he added.
Ambassador of Uzbekistan Akmal Kuchkarov noted that as a result of sincere friendship based on mutual trust and respect established between the leaders of the two countries, today’s relations between our countries have entered a new stage.
‘Relations between our countries in the political, trade, economic, cultural, and educational spheres are developing every day. We think this is the result of wise foreign policy carried out by the leaders of the two countries. Only in the past year, a number of mutual visits at the highest level have been made. An Uzbek-Turkmen friendship festival was successfully held in Dashoguz. It should be noted here that the common history, culture, traditions, and values that closely link the Uzbek and Turkmen peoples serve as the basis for strengthening friendship between our countries’, Ambassador said.
