Teddy the Dog's story is a bittersweet tale filled with both sorrow and happiness. Unfortunately, dogs like Teddy are often used as bait in dog fighting rings. When Teddy was no longer useful for this cruel purpose, he was handed over to an animal trapping service. Exactly three years ago, in January 2020, Teddy was rescued and given a chance to live a happier life.
Iroda Matkarimova, the founder of the Hayot Animal Shelter in Uzbekistan, shared that Teddy was rescued from capture in Chirchik with hind legs that were not functioning properly. Upon arrival at the shelter, Teddy was frightened by the presence of many other dogs and their loud barks, causing him to crawl back in fear. She stated that the dog had numerous scars on its body.
‘His bladder was damaged. After many surgeries, Teddy could not walk well for a long time. He was very emaciated’.
The dog underwent a three-month treatment at the veterinary clinic but did not recover.
Teddy's life took a turn for the better when a kind volunteer named Larisa Saranskaya started visiting him at the shelter. Eventually, Larisa decided to adopt him. However, Teddy was also diagnosed with a skin disease. Luckily, Larisa took him for treatment where the dog was treated for lichen and his bladder was restored.
Thanks to Larisa's efforts, Teddy made a full recovery.
