The Council of People’s Deputies of the Samarkand region pushes for a 60 km/h speed limit in twelve sections of the streets and roads of the region. The request has been filed to the Republican Commission.
Following the official data, the Samarkand region has registered nearly 315,000 traffic violations over the last ten months. The majority of accidents (285) in the reporting period occurred due to speeding. This resulted in the death of 88 people. 219 were injured.
The Department of Internal Affairs informed that speed measuring devices are attached to 10 cars on highways, passing through the territory of the region. The number of accidents decreased by 85 compared to the same period last year. The number of casualties also declined by 6.
