Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Audrey Azoulay, Director General of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization - UNESCO, the press service of the president reports.
The parties discussed the practical ways of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNESCO within the framework of the World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education (WCECCE) that is being held in Tashkent.
Azoulay highly appreciated the reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in terms of youth support, upbringing and education of children and noted their effectiveness.
Director General congratulated the Tashkent international conference on the development of preschool education underpinning the implementation of the New Country program.
The International body supported the Uzbek President’s initiative to set up a UNESCO regional centre in Tashkent, as well as to prepare and adopt an updated "roadmap" for the promotion of joint and advanced projects within the framework of effective cooperation.
