President Mirziyoyev proposed to hold an annual International Turkish Economic Forum at the summit of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States on November 11.
According to the press service of the President, the head of state said that it would help to strengthen the trade-economic foundation of cooperation.
"In the process of preparing for the summit, we thoroughly analyzed the activities of our organization. Although there has been done a lot of work to develop multilateral relations between our countries, we still haven’t tapped great potential and opportunities. First of all, it is appropriate to strengthen the trade and economic foundation of our cooperation," the president said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the trade turnover between the countries is only 4 per cent of the total foreign trade, and the rest goes to third countries.
"In order to fundamentally change the situation in this strategic direction, we will put forward an initiative to establish a new area of economic opportunities within the framework of our organization.
In order to achieve this plan, I propose to hold the International Turkish Economic Forum every year, with the participation of representatives of member and observer countries and world leaders in the organization," the Uzbek president continued.
According to the state leader, the holding of joint events, businessmen's meetings and roundtables, and presentations of innovative projects and exhibitions in the framework of the forum will give great practical results.
