On August 5, President Mirziyoyev signed the decree "On additional measures to popularize and develop chess."
The Uzbek government will commission to set an International Chess School, a non-school state sports-educational institution at the "Todakol" recreational site in the Kyziltepa district, Navoi region.
Starting from 2023, it is envisaged to hold annually:
• "Rokirovka" competition among young people in all regions;
• Nuroniy Cup among representatives of the older generation;
• "Cheksiz imkon" tournament among chess players with disabilities;
• $50 000 prize March 8 – Women's Chess international Championship;
• Traditional Uzbekistan Chess Open international competition between chess players of CIS, SCO and Turkic state members.
