Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, held a meeting on April 1, with Lu Hao, Director of the Development Research Center of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. The meeting focused on reviewing current cooperation and identifying areas for further development in bilateral economic relations.
During the discussions, the parties addressed the current state of Uzbekistan–China relations and noted the role of expert and analytical cooperation in supporting trade, economic, and investment ties. Emphasis was placed on strengthening collaboration between research and policy institutions to improve the effectiveness of joint initiatives.
The meeting also covered potential areas for practical cooperation. These include green energy, industrial development, and water conservation, which were identified as priority sectors for future joint projects.
Both sides confirmed their intention to develop a more structured partnership aimed at supporting coordinated solutions and expanding cooperation in key sectors of the economy.
Trade data was also reviewed during the meeting. In 2025, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and China reached $17.8bn. In the first two months of 2026, bilateral trade amounted to $3.19bn, with exports increasing by 13% over the same period.
