Ingenuity Marsga Perseverance marsoxodi bilan birga yetib kelgan. Marsoxod ortilgan raketa 2020-yil iyulida Florida shtatida joylashgan Kanaveral burnidagi kosmodromdan uchirilgan edi. Fevralda Amerika roveri Yezero krateriga borib qo‘ndi. Bungacha sun’iy yo‘ldoshdan olingan ma’lumotlar yordamida u yerda katta ko‘lga borib quyilgan daryo o‘zani izlari aniqlangan edi. Olimlar fikricha, kraterda hayot izlari saqlanib qolgan bo‘lishi mumkin.

Vertolyot 31 kun (Yer hisobi bo‘yicha) ishlashga mo‘ljallangan. Parvozlar chog‘ida dron hududni aerofotosyomka qiladi. Keyingi parvoz to‘rt kundan so‘ng amalga oshishi kerak, unda Ingenuity 5 metrgacha balandlikka ko‘tarilishi kutilmoqda.

NASA avvalroq bunday qurilma uchun asosiy muammo Mars atmosferasining o‘ta siyrakligidan iborat bo‘lishini ma’lum qilgandi. “Mars atmosferasining zichligi Yernikining atigi 1 foiziga teng, shu sababli, vertolyot shunchaki sayyora yuzasida turgan vaqtida ham bu uning uchun Yerdagi 30 km balandlikka teng bo‘ladi”, — degan edi loyiha muallifi.
