President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has arrived in Belgrade for an official visit to Serbia at the invitation of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
Mirziyoyev is accompanied by the First Lady. As the Uzbek president’s aircraft entered Serbian airspace, it was escorted by Serbian Air Force fighter jets. At Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, the delegation was received by Vucic and his wife. The national flags of Uzbekistan and Serbia were raised, and a guard of honor was formed for the arrival ceremony.
The visit marks the first official visit by an Uzbek president to Serbia. The main events of the program are scheduled to take place in Belgrade, including high-level talks between the two countries and a business forum involving government and business representatives from Uzbekistan and Serbia. The talks will focus on further developing cooperation between the two countries. Following the summit, the sides are expected to adopt a package of bilateral documents.
As part of the visit, Mirziyoyev and his wife attended an official reception organized in honor of the Uzbek delegation. They were received by Vucic, First Lady Tamara Vucic, Speaker of the National Assembly Ana Brnabic, Prime Minister Djuro Matsut and other Serbian officials.
During the reception, the sides noted the significance of the first official visit by the Uzbek president to Serbia and discussed opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation. Attention was also given to relations between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Serbia.
In connection with the Uzbek delegation’s visit, the Kula Belgrade skyscraper was illuminated in the colors of Uzbekistan’s national flag.The visit will continue with Uzbek-Serbian high-level negotiations and the bilateral business forum, followed by the expected signing of a package of cooperation documents.
Bilateral goods trade between Uzbekistan and Serbia reached €37.7mn (about $41.8mn) in 2025, up 27% from $32.9mn in 2024. Serbia exported €23.6mn ($26.39mn) worth of goods to Uzbekistan and imported €14.1mn ($15.46mn). Serbian exports primarily included construction finishing materials, furniture and other industrial goods, while imports from Uzbekistan included cotton and other products.
