Uzbekistan and the Lesotho signed a joint communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations on March 27 in New York, Dunyo reports.
The document was signed on behalf of the two governments by Ulugbek Lapasov and Matete Nena. With this step, Lesotho became the 166th country to establish diplomatic ties with Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation within international organizations, particularly the United Nations and its specialized agencies.
The parties also agreed to continue exploring mutually beneficial areas of cooperation across political, trade and economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian fields.
Uzbekistan has been actively expanding its diplomatic outreach. In September 2025, the country established diplomatic relations with Palau through a joint communique signed by Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and Palau’s State Minister Gustav Aitaro in New York.
