Saida Mirziyoyeva, assistant to the president of Uzbekistan, held a series of meetings on April 7, in Washington focused on expanding economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States, including discussions with Sergio Gor, co-chair of the newly established U.S.-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council.
The meeting took place ahead of the formal launch of the council’s activities. The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral business ties and identifying opportunities for increased investment and commercial collaboration.
Mirziyoyeva stated that the council is expected to serve as a platform for enhancing economic relations between the two countries. She also noted that ongoing political engagement at the presidential level provides a foundation for expanding cooperation.
On April 6, Mirziyoyeva and Gor also met at Mar-a-Lago. A photograph released from the meeting shows additional attendees, including Tiffany Trump and her husband Michael Boulos.
The U.S.-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council was established in November 2025 as a bilateral mechanism aimed at facilitating trade, investment, and private-sector cooperation. The U.S. side of the council is co-chaired by Sergio Gor and Saida Mirziyoyeva, who together oversee its activities and strategic direction.
Statements associated with the council’s launch indicate that its formation follows a period of increased commercial engagement between the two countries. Since the November 2025 C5+1 leaders’ meeting in Washington, hosted by Donald Trump, Uzbekistan has concluded agreements with U.S. companies valued at hundreds of millions of dollars.
