Hungarian retailer Aldi ready to explore possibilities of importing Uzbek products

Hungarian retailer Aldi ready to explore possibilities of importing Uzbek products

Ambassador Oybek Shakhavdinov met with Bernard Haider, the director of the Hungarian department of Aldi, a large transnational company, to discuss potential trade opportunities. The meeting, reported by Dunyo news agency, focused on exploring the export potential of Uzbekistan and establishing connections with Aldi for future business ventures.

During the discussions, Ambassador Shakhavdinov presented Uzbekistan's export potential and various commercial offers from domestic enterprises. The focus was on highlighting the quality and diversity of Uzbek products that could be introduced to the Hungarian market.

Bernard Haider expressed Aldi’s interest in importing products from Uzbekistan and showed readiness to establish connections with Uzbek exporters. Haider emphasized Aldi's ongoing efforts to diversify its product range by sourcing high-quality goods from reliable international suppliers.

A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement for Aldi to provide the Uzbek side with detailed information on the Hungarian market. This includes an in-depth analysis of prices, import requirements, and necessary certifications for products entering Hungary.

Furthermore, both parties agreed to explore the possibilities of exporting legumes from Uzbekistan to Hungary. This initiative aims to introduce Uzbek agricultural products to the Hungarian market, benefiting both economies by increasing trade volume and fostering stronger commercial ties.

Aldi, founded in Germany in 1946 by brothers Karl and Theodor Albrecht, is a prominent discount retail chain with over 10,000 stores in 20 countries. Aldi opened its first store in Budapest in 2008 and has since become one of the largest retailers in Hungary.
