The number of active commercial organizations in Uzbekistan reached 425,800 as of May 1, 2026, according to data from the National Statistics Committee, with family businesses exceeding 36,000 nationwide.
Official figures showed that 338,937 limited liability companies (LLCs) were operating across the country, accounting for 79.6% of all registered commercial entities and remaining the most common form of business in Uzbekistan.
Private enterprises made up the second-largest share with 46,337 businesses, or 10.9% of the total. Family businesses ranked third, reaching 36,434, which represented 8.6% of all commercial organizations.
The remaining share included 645 joint-stock companies, accounting for 0.2%, while another 3,439 businesses were registered under other legal forms.
Recent economic indicators have pointed to continued business activity in Uzbekistan. According to the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, the country’s business climate index rose to 60 points in April, driven by stronger performance in industry, construction and services, while entrepreneurs reported growing demand and employment.
Uzbekistan has also introduced new legal changes, including raising the minimum voluntary social tax threshold for self-employed individuals and simplifying several business procedures. Recent revisions to VAT rules have also prompted discussion among some small business owners over compliance requirements and their impact on entrepreneurs
