On the second day of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Navoi region, he inaugurated a set of 15 new projects valued at a total of $3.6bn, marking a major step forward for the region's industrial and economic development. Joined by public representatives, President Mirziyoyev attended a ceremony celebrating the launch of three new enterprises and the start of construction on twelve more.
These projects, spanning diverse sectors, reflect Navoi's rapidly growing appeal to investors. In 2023, the region produced industrial goods worth over UZS 101 trillion ($7.9bn) and recorded exports of $648mn. Despite delays in some investments, including $478mn in foreign investments, Navoi’s foreign trade turnover reached $1.3bn, and over 300 foreign enterprises now operate in the region.
The newly announced projects include significant undertakings:
- The first stage of a combustible shale mining and processing project in Kanimekh.
- A 300-megawatt solar photovoltaic power plant and a 75-megawatt energy storage system in Karmana district.
- Technical gas production in Navoi city, alongside marble and granite processing plants in Ghazon and Zarafshan cities, respectively.
- Kaolin mining and beneficiation in Uchkuduk and a fish feed production project in Khatyrchi district.
Additionally, factories for potassium sulfate and sulfuric acid processing in Karmana, cotton pulp manufacturing in Navoi, and granite stone processing in Nurota were launched. These projects are expected to generate over 7,000 new jobs across Navoi.
