Uzbekistan and South Korea are preparing to agree on technical specifications for the delivery of a batch of high-speed trains, the Ministry of Transport reported.
Anvar Dushayev, Head of the Ministry's Department for Railway Infrastructure Development and Licensing, and Sharofiddin Kadyrov, Chief Engineer of Uzbekistan Railways, met with Lee Young-bae, President of Hyundai Rotem, on June 10. The discussion focused on the current state and prospects of mutual cooperation.
During the meeting, issues related to the final approval of technical specifications for the project to supply eight high-speed electric trains for the Tashkent-Andijan and Tashkent-Termez routes were discussed in detail.
The Uzbek delegation was also received by Lee Hee-yun, Executive Director of Saman Corporation. The meeting focused on the development of a feasibility study for the planned Tashkent-Samarkand high-speed railway.
The parties agreed on the deadline for submitting the final feasibility study for the future railway project. It will take into account additional proposals and recommendations from the Korea Export-Import Bank (KEXIM), UTY noted.
Furthermore, the meeting participants discussed projects for new high-speed railway lines from Tashkent to Andijan and Termez. Saman, as the international partner, will provide technical consulting and expert review of project solutions.
