Uzbekistan, Russia, and Hungary have discussed the next stages of implementing the nuclear power plant project in Uzbekistan's Jizzakh region, focusing on design documentation, technical coordination, and infrastructure development.
According to the Atomic Energy Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers (Uzatom), a delegation from Uzatom and the Nuclear Power Plant Construction Directorate visited Moscow on July 22–23 for a series of meetings with representatives of Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom and Hungary's MVM EGI Zrt.
The discussions centered on the preparation of design documentation and the subsequent implementation of the integrated nuclear power plant project planned for the Jizzakh region.
During a meeting with Dmitry Volkov, Rosatom's Director of Capital Construction, and representatives of the Industry Center for Capital Construction, the parties reviewed the process for examining project design documentation. They also discussed measures to strengthen the professional competencies of Uzbek specialists involved in the project.
Following the talks, Uzbekistan and Russia agreed to establish a joint working group that will coordinate cooperation during the design documentation review process and address technical and organizational issues as they arise.
As part of the visit, Uzatom representatives also met with the leadership of the Association of Nuclear Industry Construction Organizations to discuss potential cooperation with member companies of the association on nuclear energy projects in Uzbekistan.
In addition, discussions were held with representatives of the Hungarian company MVM EGI Zrt. within the framework of bilateral agreements between Uzbekistan and Hungary.
The parties outlined the next steps for cooperation on the construction of dry cooling towers, which are planned as part of the future nuclear power plant in the Jizzakh region.
