On the eve of Teachers and Mentors Day, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that 2026 will be dedicated to training young people in modern professions.
Speaking with industry workers, the president emphasized the importance of preparing youth not just to keep pace with current trends, but to lead in the future.
"We must educate our youth not only to keep up with the times, but also to prepare them for the future. Let us never forget that the future belongs to those with new professions armed with modern knowledge," he said.
Uzbekistan's economy continues to attract significant investment, with $30-35bn flowing in annually. These investments, along with new industries and modern technologies, have contributed to the creation of 250,000–300,000 high-income jobs each year.
To support this initiative, earlier the President announced the establishment of the Vocational Education Agency. Its primary goal will be to modernize all 598 technical schools in the country by introducing new educational environments and aligning them with international standards. The agency's structure, tasks, powers, and responsibilities were formalized in a presidential resolution on September 8.
