Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Defense has created a specialized unit tasked with introducing and developing artificial intelligence (AI) technologies within the armed forces, the ministry’s press service announced.

The new unit aims to "optimize processes and strengthen defense capabilities" by focusing on:
- Big data analysis;
- Automation of management processes;
- Rapid scenario modeling;
- Accelerating decision-making during military operations.
The unit will collaborate with universities, research centers, and IT companies both in Kazakhstan and abroad. In addition to technology development, the initiative is intended to train analytical officers and digital technology specialists capable of working with modern algorithms and systems.
Earlier this summer, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of digitizing the army and incorporating artificial intelligence. Following this, Deputy Defense Minister Darkhan Ahmediyev confirmed plans to establish an Artificial Intelligence Department.
"We will soon launch the Artificial Intelligence Department at the Ministry of Defense. I am currently gathering a team. If you have suitable candidates, write to me. The salary is good, there is a strong social package and various benefits from the army," Ahmediyev said.
