Uzbekistan boosts connectivity with SES-Uz-Sat partnership

Uzbekistan boosts connectivity with SES-Uz-Sat partnership

To bolster connectivity across Uzbekistan, SES, a global satellite operator, has announced a collaboration with Uz-Sat, the nation's primary broadband satellite service provider.

Under the terms of the agreement, SES will extend its connectivity services throughout Uzbekistan using its advanced GEO satellite, NSS-12. This strategic move aims to bolster mobile backhaul services across the country, particularly targeting remote and rural areas that are currently underserved by terrestrial networks.

The partnership comes at a crucial juncture, as bridging the digital divide remains a top priority for Uzbekistan's development agenda. By leveraging SES's proven satellite communications infrastructure, Uz-Sat aims to empower communities across the nation with reliable and consistent connectivity.

One of the key objectives of the collaboration is to drive digital inclusion, ensuring that even the most isolated regions can benefit from robust internet access. This initiative aligns with global efforts to democratize access to digital technologies and foster socio-economic development.

Moreover, Uzbekistan's susceptibility to natural disasters, including earthquakes and floods, underscores the urgency of enhancing the nation's disaster resilience. SES's satellite technology will play a pivotal role in bolstering Uzbekistan's emergency response capabilities by enabling Uz-Sat to swiftly restore critical communication networks during times of crisis.

Commenting on the partnership, representatives from SES emphasized the transformative potential of satellite-based connectivity in facilitating socio-economic progress and ensuring the safety and well-being of communities, particularly in regions prone to natural disasters.

SES (Société Européenne des Satellites) is a prominent global satellite operator, renowned for its extensive fleet of geostationary satellites providing a multitude of communication services worldwide. Established in 1985 as Europe's first private satellite operator, SES has since expanded its reach across continents, serving diverse clients including broadcasters, internet service providers, governments, and telecommunications companies.

Noteworthy for its pioneering High Throughput Satellites (HTS) and the O3b Networks constellation in Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), SES is at the forefront of satellite technology, offering high-speed internet access, television distribution, mobile communications, and government services. With strategic partnerships for satellite launches and a commitment to innovation, SES continues to push the boundaries of satellite-based connectivity, addressing evolving market demands and emerging technologies to sustain its position as a leader in the industry.
