Inpex North Caspian Sea, a Kazakhstani subsidiary of Japan's Inpex, exported 20,000 tons of oil to Germany through the Druzhba pipeline In April 2024, the Russian Ministry of Energy reports. Inpex, holding a 7.6% stake in the Kashagan field, became the second Kazakhstani company to export oil to Germany through Druzhba.
KPO exported over 900,000 tons of oil to Germany, shy of the expected 1.2 mn tons in 2023. Kazakhstan's Energy Minister, Almasadam Satkaliyev, announced negotiations with Germany in March 2024 to increase oil supplies to 2 mn tons this year, possibly necessitating reductions in supplies to other destinations due to OPEC+ production limits.
Inpex shipped almost 40,000 tons of oil via Novorossiysk and over 18,000 tons via Ust-Luga in 2023. In 2024, the company exported 22,000 tons through Novorossiysk, with no Ust-Luga shipments yet.
The North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) manages the Kashagan field and includes several stakeholders besides Inpex. The Karachaganak project involves Eni S.p.A., Shell Plc, Chevron, Lukoil, and KazMunayGas.
