Kazakhstan received a record $770 mn investment from Germany in 2023. Currently, the investment landscape between Germany and Kazakhstan comprises 63 projects, cumulatively valued at about $54.4 bn. The Kazakh Invest national company reported during the April 24 meeting of the Council for Attracting Investments chaired by Kazakh First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar.
These initiatives notably contributed to the local economy by creating 14,700 jobs. Of these, 32 projects are already operational, securing nearly 6,000 permanent positions for local and expatriate workers.
The bilateral trade figures also reflect a robust relationship, with trade increasing by 24.7% in 2022 and an impressive 41.3% in 2023. Such growth positioned Kazakhstan as one of Germany’s top 50 trading partners and cemented its status as a pivotal partner in Central Asia.
During the council meeting, particular attention was given to the Bakhty-Ayagoz railway project located in the Abai region, which borders China.
