Uzbekistan breaks-ground on New Tashkent project
Amidst the holy month of Ramadan, a momentous ceremony unfolded on April 3, in Uzbekistan as the foundation for the city of New Tashkent was laid. This initiative, which commenced on March 18, 2023, marks a significant stride towards fostering enlightenment, education, and cultural advancement in the region, presidential press service of Uzbekistan informed.
At the heart of this endeavor lies a comprehensive vision articulated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who underscored the historical significance of the occasion.
"Today we are laying the foundation for the campuses of Yangi Uzbekistan University and Tashkent State Pedagogical University, the National Library, the National Theater, the International Research Center, the Museum of Literature, the Alisher Navoi School of Creativity, as well as the National Maqom Center," remarked President Mirziyoyev, emphasizing the pivotal role of knowledge and spirituality in shaping society.
Central to the development plans is the establishment of an educational hub anchored by the Tashkent State Pedagogical University. President Mirziyoyev highlighted the pivotal role of educators, stating,
"If the school is the basis of an enlightened society, then the teacher is its support."
The new campus will accommodate 20,000 students and feature state-of-the-art facilities, including educational buildings, dormitories, a kindergarten, and a school, aimed at fostering an integrated approach to education.
Similarly, Yangi Uzbekistan University, renowned for its excellence in various fields, will see the creation of a modern campus catering to 10,000 students. The university complex will encompass educational facilities, a canteen, a library, and sports amenities, fostering innovation and academic excellence.
The development blueprint extends beyond education to encompass cultural and artistic domains. The National Library, envisaged as a repository of knowledge, will offer world-class infrastructure to house millions of literary works and serve as a hub for intellectual exchange.
In recognition of the intrinsic connection between theatrical arts and cultural heritage, the construction of the National Theater is underway, promising to provide a platform for artistic expression and creativity.
Moreover, a spirituality complex comprising an international research center, a school of creativity, a literature museum honoring Alisher Navoi, and the National Maqom Center will enrich the cultural landscape of New Tashkent, fostering spiritual enrichment and nurturing future generations.
President Mirziyoyev expressed optimism regarding the transformative potential of New Tashkent, stating,
"I believe that New Tashkent will become a real center of science, education, and culture not only for our country but also for the entire region."
