Uzbekneftegaz, the state-owned oil and gas company, commenced the sale of diesel fuel at reduced prices. This move comes in response to a directive from the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to alleviate the financial burden on farmers.
Starting from February 19, all oil depots have begun offering EURO-5 SSDF grade diesel fuel for nearly UZS 12,000,000 (nearly $975) per tonne. This semi-synthetic diesel, produced by the Bukhara Oil Refinery since April 2023, is a blend of traditional diesel and the synthetic product Uzbekistan GTL.
In a meeting held on February 12, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered a reduction in the cost of diesel fuel, primarily to benefit farmers. The President acknowledged that fuel costs for farm machinery during agricultural operations constitute one of the main expenses for farmers.
Following the President’s directive, the Chairman of Uzbekneftegaz, Bahadir Sidikov, announced a 15% reduction in diesel prices. To facilitate this, the company plans to increase diesel production from local raw materials.
