The topographical working groups of government delegations from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan convened in Botken from January 10 to 15 for discussions on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border.
As per the report from NIAT "Khovar," the topographical working groups successfully reached an agreement pertaining to the 38.35-km section of the Kyrgyz-Tajikistan border during this period. A corresponding protocol was formally signed to document the outcomes of the meeting.
The agreement signifies progress in the ongoing efforts to clearly define and demarcate the border between the two countries. The parties have committed to continuing their collaborative work on outlining the remaining territories in subsequent meetings, with the next session scheduled to take place on the territory of Tajikistan.
This development follows a protocol signed in the fall of 2023 during a meeting of government delegations from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The previous protocol was hailed as "the basis for solving all border problems," setting the stage for continued diplomatic efforts to establish clarity and stability along the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border.
