A meeting of the Advisory Council on Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the CIS member states will be held in Ashgabat in the second half of 2024, local TV channel Altyn Asyr reports.
The issue was discussed at a government meeting. "Turkmenistan, as an associate member of the Commonwealth on the basis of its neutral status, actively participates in the work of this council."
According to the CIS Executive Committee website, the Council carries out activities to form a common labour market, develop its infrastructure and facilitate the implementation of social policy tasks of the states.
"Innovations in the work of the Council are the activities carried out in recent years on the development of social services, pension provision, labour protection and rationing, labour market and employment." Last year, the Council discussed the social and labour situation in the countries and measures taken in this area, as well as issues related to the CIS census.
Official Ashgabat decided in 2005, citing Turkmenistan's status of permanent neutrality, to participate in the CIS structure as an associate member. In 1999, Turkmenistan withdrew from the Agreement on visa-free regime with CIS countries.
