Sherzod Abdunazarov has been named as the new head of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul, Dunyo reports. At 41 years old, Abdunazarov brings a wealth of experience, having graduated from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and the Higher School of Analysis and Forecasting.
His career in diplomatic service dates back to 2007, when he held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade (now the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Before his recent appointment, Abdunazarov served as the 1st secretary in the same consulate general.
Amirsaid Agzamkhojayev, who previously led the consulate general in Istanbul from 2020 to 2023, has been reassigned as the ambassador of Uzbekistan to Poland since November 2023.
Notably, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul covers a district encompassing Istanbul, Aydin, Balikesir, Bilecik, Bursa, Izmir, Kojayeli, and other regions of Turkey, along with Bulgaria and Romania.
Earlier, it was reported that Fariddin Nasriev, Uzbekistan's new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Iran, has arrived in Tehran on December 21.
