Alexey Miller, the head of Gazprom, revealed plans to finalize medium-term 15-year contracts with Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in mid-2024. The announcement was made during the company's final meeting, and the contracts are set to commence reliable and stable gas supplies to the Central Asian republics on November 1, 2025, RIA News reports.
Miller emphasized the significance of these agreements, stating, "The medium-term fifteen-year contracts that we agreed on with our partners in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan will be concluded in the middle of next year at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum."
Highlighting Gazprom's recent efforts, Miller also pointed out the increased gas supplies to Uzbekistan in December. Despite challenging weather conditions, Gazprom managed to supply gas to Uzbekistan at double the daily contractual obligations. Miller expressed satisfaction with the maximum technologically possible mode of gas supply, specifically through the Central Asia-Center gas pipelines.
"As we entered December this year, frosts also came to the Uzbek Republic. And you and I ensured gas supplies to Uzbekistan twice as high as our daily contractual obligations. Today, in December, we supply gas to Uzbekistan in the maximum technologically possible mode in the corridor of the Central Asia - Center gas pipeline," Miller explained.
Earlier it was reported that Gazprom, the Russian energy giant, has doubled its gas supplies to Uzbekistan in response to a request from Tashkent.
